5 Things Your Nails Are Trying to Say About Your Health
By Nguyen Kinh Luan
Your nails say a lot about you, such as your favorite polish color or even how meticulous you are with your hygiene. However, they also say a lot about your general health. From signaling that you may be suffering from a respiratory condition to suggesting that you may be suffering from thyroid disease, here are five things your nails can say about your health.
1. Blue Fingernails: Referred to as cyanosis in the medical community, this indicates that there is too little oxygen circulating in your blood. It can also signal that your extremities are not getting enough oxygen. If you massage or warm up your hands and they return to their normal color, this is usually the case. However, if they remain blue, there is an underlying cause. In many cases, this is the result of a respiratory condition, such as emphysema, asthma, or chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder (COPD). It can also be a sign of Raynaud's Disease, which is due to a vessel abnormality and can be treated.
2. Yellow Nails: In most cases, this is the result of a fungal infection that is frequently caused by the overgrowth of the organism Candida albicans. In this situation, you may also notice pain and swelling. Dermatophytesare a second type of fungus that often inhabits the nails and often causes them to become thick and split. In rare cases, this is caused by "yellow nail syndrome", a serious medical condition that indicates the accumulation of excess fluid in the body's tissues. This requires immediate medical attention.
3. Pitting: Caused by new nail cells developing unevenly superficially in the matrix, this term refers to small dents that form on the nail's surface. Up to 50 percent of people suffering from psoriasis, a skin condition that results in flaky, red skin, develop pitting during their lifetime. In some cases, it may be indicative of a systemic disease, a condition that affects multiple tissues and organs in the body, such as sarcoidosis.
4. Horizontal rippling: Often referred to as Beau's lines, this is the result of disrupted cell growth in the matrix below the surface and is often a sign of a nutritional deficiency and/ or serious illness. For example, it can indicate uncontrolled diabetes, a zinc deficiency, peripheral vascular disease, pneumonia, scarlet fever, measles, mumps, or any other illness that causes an extremely high fever.
5. Brown or Copper Fingernails: Although it is rare, this can be a sign of subungual melanoma, a potentially deadly form of cancer that originates in the nail's matrix. More often it is a sign of a nutritional deficiency, especially vitamin B12, iron, or zinc. However, it can also simply be a reminder that you are getting older.
If you have an upcoming doctor's visit, be sure to take off any polish ahead of time so that he or she can get a good look at your naked nails. You may find out that they are trying to tell you, and your physician, something important about your health.

What Are the Triggers of Psoriasis?
By Christopher Langley
There are many different skin conditions that can cause significant discomfort for people, ranging from eczema to acne. One of the most common ones, which many individuals all around the world suffer with, is psoriasis; this has several major visible symptoms.
Some of these symptoms include dry and cracked skin, red patches of skin with a scale like appearance, and even small scaly spots on the surface of the skin. This can occur anywhere on the body, but there are also specific areas that can suffer in particular from this condition. One of these areas is the scalp, where psoriasis results in red, itchy areas and dry, flaky skin.
This condition generally come sin bouts, and will flare up and then die back down again. Periods of remission may be extended or they may be short, depending on the person and how severe the condition is for them.
With that said, there are several triggers which can cause this particular illness to flare up. Although no one knows the true cause of this skin condition, medical scientists have at least been able to identify triggers along with several different types of medical and natural remedy for psoriasis, both of which can relieve the symptoms and any associated discomfort.
One of the main triggers for this condition is stress, which is implicated in a variety of common human illnesses. For those suffering with psoriasis, it is therefore strongly advised to take measures to manage stress more effectively, as this can reduce the severity of flare ups and even avoid them altogether to some extent.
There are also some other lifestyle factors which are considered to make the illness worse. Notably, these include smoking and drinking a large quantity of alcohol. As with stress, these two factors are generally implicated in a lot of human illnesses, so stopping smoking and reducing intake of alcohol can only be beneficial for not only easing psoriasis, but also improving general well being.
In addition to these more controllable factors, environmental factors also play a role in triggering psoriasis. One of these is cold weather, which can dry out and irritate the skin and therefore cause a flare up. Taking measures to combat this in advance of the change of the seasons is therefore advised.
Infection sand injury to the skin can also cause flare ups of the condition. A simple infection such as a throat infection can be sufficient to trigger a bout of the illness, as can a simple insect bite or sunburn. Additional care needs to be taken where possible to stay in general good health and protect the skin from injury.
Some medications may also worsen the condition, so if you are taking any medicine - whether prescribed or over the counter- it is best to consult with your doctor about the effect that it may be having on your illness.
It is worth noting that different people will have different triggers when it comes to their psoriasis flaring up. The best way to avoid these triggers is to become aware of them and then taking precautions to combat them. You may find a medicinal or natural remedy for psoriasis may help, as well as regular actions to sooth your skin.
These can include using a moisturizing cream daily to keep your skin nourished, exposing your skin to small amounts of sunlight on a regular basis - taking care not to burn, of course - or taking baths on a daily basis using natural bath salts to sooth and nourish the skin.
Before you take any prescribed or natural remedy for psoriasis, however, it is best to check with your dermatologist for their professional opinion. A medical professional will best be able to advise on

Strengthen Your Immune System With Echinacea
By Michele Kadison
Now that winter is almost upon us, it's time to double up on protective care. Here's a little information on one of my favorite herbs for keeping your immune system strong.
A BIT OF HISTORY
Before the introduction of allopathic antibiotics, the herb Echinacea was what healers used to boost the immune system, without ever producing a single side effect. This is a lot more than we can say for many of the synthetic alternatives that conventional doctors proscribe today. Native Americans used the plant for its powerful medicinal properties that help avert and cure a myriad of problems, followed by the early Americans and then the Europeans, who learned even more about Echinacea's ability to strengthen the immune system. In bygone days when syphilis, scarlet fever, diphtheria, malaria, and blood poisoning were prevalent, Echinacea was the medicine of choice, as it helped prevent infection while strengthening and arming the body's army of disease-fighting white blood cells.
THE PLANT
Echinacea is a member of the daisy family and known as "Asteraceae," or purple coneflower for its brilliant petals that stand out when in bloom. There are two types of Echinacea: E. Angustifolia, which grows best in colder climates and at a high elevation, and E. Purpurea, which can be grown at a lower elevation in milder climes. Both types can be grown from seeds and then kept in partial shade rather than full sunlight. If you grow Echinacea in your outdoor garden, you will marvel at the proliferation of butterflies it attracts!
ECHINACEA'S MANY ATTRIBUTES
Most of the scientific research done on Echinacea has been in Germany where research shows how it helps to stimulate cells that fight infection. Where allopathic vaccinations generally target a specific problem and conventional antibiotics often weaken the body's natural ability to heal itself, Echinacea strengthens the immune system with no adverse effects. With a strong immune system, the body is better able to fight viruses, bacteria, and abnormal cells on its own. Echinacea does this by activating white blood cells and lymphocytes so that they can do their job of attacking and overcoming invading organisms that cause illness and disease.
A SHORT LIST OF ECHINACEA'S ATTRIBUTES:
Increases the number of immune system cells necessary for health
Works as a mild antibiotic, anti-fungal, and anti-viral
Prevents bacteria from entering healthy cells
Stimulates new tissue growth for wound healing
Helps with skin regeneration
Reduces inflammation in skin conditions such as psoriasis and eczema
Reduces inflammation in cases of arthritis
Increases resistance to infections
Helps heal candida, herpes, urinary tract, and other similar infections
Helps reduce inflamed lymph glands
Helps reduce symptoms of sore throat
Helps reduce upper respiratory problems in general
Helpful in averting and shortening the duration of the common cold
In Europe Echinacea is so respected that it is sometimes used as IV supplement for some forms of cancer and is often injected for the treatment of urinary tract infections. In the United States, where pharmaceutical drugs are the mainstream, it takes good personal research to understand the importance and power of Echinacea as an alternative or supplement.
STUDIES
The University of Maryland Medical Center confirms that many laboratory studies show that Echinacea contains active substances that enhance the immune system. Because of this, the plant has received positive feedback in a more conservative setting for relieving pain, reducing inflammation, and helping to boost anti-oxidant and hormonal strength.
In terms of the common cold, 14 clinical trials throughout the United States show that the use of Echinacea reduces the odds of developing a cold by 58% and reduces the duration of a cold by 1 to 4 days.
USING ECHINACEA
I have used Echinacea throughout the years whenever I feel a cold coming on. As soon as the first symptom rears its head, I put about 30 drops in a glass of room temperature water and drink this twice a day to keep my system strong. It is best to use Echinacea on a short-term basis, as this way you get the most from its power. I use it until my symptoms go away, or as a preventative, for two to three weeks with a break of a few weeks.
You can find Echinacea in many forms: as a tincture (alcohol or glycerine based), liquid extract, tea, capsule, as well as in creams and gels for topical use. Make sure you follow directions in terms of dosage. Then combine your Echinacea protocol with accompanying doses of Body Activation fitness, and you'll be thriving all year long!
WORDS TO THE WISE
Echinacea is not a substitute for critical medical cases. Make sure you consult your healthcare provider before embarking on a protocol. Though there is no known toxicity, it is advised not to use the herb in cases of progressive systemic and autoimmune diseases such as TB, lupus, and connective tissue disorders.

Psoriasis and the Stigma - Living With Psoriasis
By Danielle W Lee
Psoriasis is a chronic immune system disease that adversely affects the skin. It occurs when the immune system over-reacts and causes skin cells to grow at an abnormally fast rate. It is characterized by scaly patches that are red and silver.
Psoriasis is more common in people living in the northern hemisphere. It is also more prevalent among Caucasians than in other races such as Africans and Asians. Psoriasis is highly hereditary in nature. According to research, 30% of people with psoriasis also have family members who suffer from the disease. If both parents suffer from psoriasis, their children will have a 50% chance of inheriting the disease. Drugs, illness, and stress are the most common causes of the disease.
Because of the visible and chronic nature of psoriasis, there is much stigma surrounding it. Most people who do not have psoriasis themselves are uneducated about the condition. Thus, a psoriasis sufferer may be met with fear or disgust should he bare his skin in public. Apart from that, many also mistakenly believe that psoriasis is a contagious disease, which can make social situations awkward. Psoriasis sufferers are often banned from public pools or refused service at hair salons. They must deal with rude comments and handle discrimination and rejection on a daily basis. This can result in low self-esteem and a poor self-image.
Although over 7.5 million people suffer from psoriasis in the United States, most people who have it elect to hide their skin in order to avoid facing the painful reactions of others. Often, hiding psoriasis is much easier than explaining the condition.
Psoriasis and Social Situations
Public ignorance of psoriasis can be very damaging to psoriasis sufferers. Psoriasis patients mistakenly believe they are abnormal because of their skin's appearance and they may also have difficulty socializing with others. As a result, they may choose to spend their time alone or slowly withdraw from society, preferring to protect themselves from embarrassing social situations. Through this, they feel comfortable and at ease knowing that they won't be ridiculed by anyone. Eventually, being alone becomes their comfort zone, and many psoriasis sufferers cite a decline in their social life after the onset of their disease.
Public Awareness of Psoriasis
Despite what it looks like, psoriasis is not a contagious skin disease. Raising public awareness about psoriasis will help improve the quality of life that psoriasis patients currently have. An effort must be made to educate the public about the disease and expose the truth about psoriasis. Patients should not be ashamed of their condition or feel that they must hide psoriasis underneath long pants and turtlenecks all year around.
As a victim of psoriasis, you can do your part to eradicate ignorance about the affliction. When meeting someone new for the first time, calmly explain your condition and emphasize that it is not contagious but simply the result of an immune system malfunction. Enlightening people about psoriasis is one of the most helpful ways to change their views about the disease. Often, it can be a conversation starter and spare you from discrimination as well. Baring psoriasis to the public takes courage but it can inspire others by example.
If you are suffering from psoriasis, now is the time to come out of your shell. By simply explaining your affliction to the people around you, prejudice and discrimination can be prevented. Dealing with psoriasis is extremely stressful, so you'll need all the support you can get on your road to remission.

Help for Chapped Winter Hands
By Patti Zimmerman
Lack of moisture is the main reason for this. When the season changes into winter, the humidity in the outside air plummets while inside things become drier due to the indoor heating. Compounding this issue is the more frequent washing of our hands we do to avoid catching a cold or the flu. This drains the natural oils in the skin resulting in your hands becoming dehydrated, leaving them to crack, peel and bleed.
Withstanding winter's harsh conditions and how well your hands will tolerate it depends on the strength of your skin barrier. The skin barrier is a mixture a proteins, lipids and oils which protects your skin. People with weak barriers are more susceptible to symptoms of sensitive skin, including itching, inflammation and eczema. Dry, chapped hands in winter are more likely to happen.
The first step to treating dry, parched, scaly hands is to replace the missing moisture that the skin is lacking. Our first thought is to drink more water but unfortunately that is not the answer. Applying a moisturizer directly to the skin keeps water from evaporating and gives the skin a healthy, dewy appearance. Using a moisturizer before your hands show signs of dryness is the best prevention of future problems.
In many cases moisturizer doesn't get applied in a timely basis. Dealing with cracked, dry skin on your fingers can be uncomfortable and may hinder using your hands especially if those cracks bleed. Not only is healing the skin important but also infections that could arise.
I recommend following these tips to heal dry, cracked skin on your hands and fingers.
These tips when followed can help with dry, cracked hands and fingers. If your symptoms persist or become severe contact your doctor or dermatologist. They may prescribe steroids to help heal the skin or uncover an underlying medical condition such as eczema, psoriasis or a fungal infection.

Applying a moisturizer directly to the skin keeps water from evaporating and gives the skin a healthy, dewy appearance. Using a moisturizer before your hands show signs of dryness is the best prevention of future problems.
I recommend following these tips to heal dry, cracked skin on your hands and fingers.
- Treat deep cracks - if these are deep enough to bleed than treat them just like any open wound. Wash carefully with warm soapy water and dry gently. Apply bandages with an antibacterial ointment to help protect the cracks and keep them from getting infected.
- Use moisturizing cream - use a thick, greasy ointment or cream to maintain and increase the skin's natural internal moisture. This will help dry skin patches and heal cracks. Read product labels as some advertise for use on extra-dry skin but may not heal cracks or protect the hands from damage. Others may contain ingredients like alcohol or chemicals that can actually make matters worse. Find products that contain pure emollients and humectants which hydrate and protect the skin. I suggest these:
- Coconut oil and shea butter - these are both excellent for protecting the skin.
- Lanolin - this is a first-rate product for healing cracks.
- Jojoba oil - this mirrors the skin's natural oils. Can't go wrong with products listing this in their ingredients.
- Petroleum jelly - protects the skin by forming a seal that won't allow moisture to escape.
- Hand washing - though extremely important, understanding the proper technique and things to avoid will help alleviate dry, cracked hands. First, avoid excessive hand washing. Water and harsh soaps with strong chemicals tend to strip the skin of its natural oils leading them to dry and crack. Look for mild soaps or those that contain lotion. Second, water temperature is very important. Using hot water washes away the natural oils and dries out the skin. Warm water is recommended. Third, gently dry your hands by patting dry with a towel. Refrain from drying them roughly with a towel. Last but not least, apply cream immediately after washing your hands. Your skin loses moisture as water evaporates off your skin. Applying a cream or lotion helps retain that moisture.
- Protective cotton gloves - to help protect even further, wear light weight cotton gloves. Apply cream before putting on to help protect your dry, cracked skin from any further irritation. Wearing these at night after applying moisturizer helps keep the ointment on and lessens the chance of a mess while sleeping.
- Humidity - warm air tends to dry out hands. Using a bedroom or whole house humidifier puts water back into the air and decreases the risk of dry, cracked skin.
- Sunscreen - if you plan on being outdoors for extended periods of time apply a good sunscreen. Hands are more susceptible to being exposed to the sun's harmful rays than other parts of the body.
These tips when followed can help with dry, cracked hands and fingers. If your symptoms persist or become severe contact your doctor or dermatologist. They may prescribe steroids to help heal the skin or uncover an underlying medical condition such as eczema, psoriasis or a fungal infection.

Skin Care Is a Complex Issue - Here Are Some Answers to So Many Questions
By Josef Bichler
There are many questions often asked about different skin conditions such as acne, eczema, psoriasis, these are just the most common ones. Skin conditions are not easy to pinpoint or known exactly what triggers or causes them. For instance, body acne is a common problem and often gets worse in the warmer weather. Many times, acne worsens when the pores of the skin get clogged with oil, sweat and dead skin cells. Most of the time body acne is the result of fluctuating hormones and overactive skin oil production that many lifestyle factors can exacerbate. Other factors that can worsen body acne include clothes that are too tight and not breathable, as well irritation caused by body care products, laundry detergents, and fabric softeners.
How to treat it?
Keep in mind everyone's reactions can vary, but coconut oil works most of the time. Coconut oil is anti bacterial and anti fungal. The oil is also an extremely good moisturizer and gentle on the skin. It helps to fight bacteria and reduces redness. Tea tree oil as well is a very powerful all natural remedy. To apply it, mix a small amount of tea tree oil with one equal amount of water and apply it with a cotton ball to your skin.
Avoid most if not all soaps and the use of other skin lotions unless organic. Lifestyle choices can help by changing to a well balanced fresh whole food diet. Taking a good natural supplement that includes fruits and berries rich in omega-3 fatty acids. Eczema and psoriasis is also a skin condition that is often triggered by wrong foods and different chemicals applied to the skin. What I mean by that is, showering too often and using chemical laden body washes and shampoos. Every time you are lathering your whole body when showering, soaps tends to remove the protective sebum which is full of beneficial fats that your body uses to protect your skin. Yet, most people regularly use hush soaps to wash their entire skin surface and remove this protective covering.
Sunshine will help!
Eczema and psoriasis respond well to moderated sunshine. Most have forgotten that the sun is a gift that we need daily. A big percentage of the western world population is vitamin D deficient because of wrong messages over decades, being told to keep out of the sun. The sun is our best source of vitamin D, which our body needs to function, and to keep good health. The skin will benefit from moderate sunshine. Many people spend most of the time in buildings and get only light from artificial sources.
Become aware of all the hidden dangers!
This is often the onset of things to come, when wrinkles appear and accelerating of skin aging has begun. Become aware of all the hidden dangers of skin creams and lotions. The cosmetic industry is one of the biggest culprits when it comes to toxin laden products. These creams and lotions may give short-term benefits, but they come with the risk of long-term health consequences. Not only creams and lotions can do damage, just using sun-block lotions, which is just as toxic.
Another thing to consider is, your skin damage could as well come from the inside of your body. This is another threat to the health and appearance of your skin which does damage: It's called 'free radicals'. These highly unstable oxygen molecules occur just naturally, but factors such as exposure to toxins and being on an unhealthy diet can increase their level. If free radicals get out of control that can wreak havoc on cells throughout your body, leading to dangerously high levels of inflammation. This will accelerate aging and a multitude of health problems as well as oxidative stress and inflammation.
Although, the good news is that our body has a protective build in mechanism that can use antioxidants to neutralize free radicals. The bad news is that most of us are lacking the antioxidant firepower to get the job done just by making some changes. Change your diet to natural whole foods and leave out some of the bad stuff that can do you damage. Instead use a good natural liquid supplement to help your body regulate any imbalances. It should contain fruits and omega-3 fatty acids, vitamin B, zinc and copper.
Avoid most lotions, creams, soaps etc. unless made from natural ingredients and/or organic. Such products are available in fact, a new anti-aging technology through a special cream that does something never seen before in skin care improvement. It can lift and refresh your skin while reducing wrinkles, without injections or costly trips to the doctor, and without pain. Pitted damaged skin is often the aftermath from acne and other skin related problems, which are now totally reversible thanks to naturally derived skin care.

Autoimmune Disorders - Ayurvedic Herbal Treatment
By Abdulmubeen Mundewadi
Autoimmune disorders are diseases in which the immune system of the body attacks normal healthy tissue and produces different symptoms of diseases. Nearly 160 diseases are listed as autoimmune disorders; common ones include rheumatoid arthritis, type 1 diabetes, psoriasis, alopecia areata, SLE, thyroiditis, Addison's disease, pernicious anaemia, celiac disease, Multiple Sclerosis, and Guillain Barre Syndrome.
A genetic predisposition is usually required for the commencement of autoimmune disorders, along with environmental triggers such as infections (bacteria, virus), food allergies, toxins (drugs, smoking, hair dyes, and chemicals) and physical trauma. Common symptoms include joint and muscle pain, general muscle weakness, rashes, low-grade fever, lack of concentration, weight loss, numbness and tingling, dry eyes, hair loss, breathlessness, and palpitations. The hallmark of autoimmune disorders is inflammation, which can affect the heart, brain, lungs, nerves, muscles, skin, eyes, joints, kidneys, glands (thyroid, pancreas etc.) and produce symptoms according to the organ and tissue affected.
The modern system of treatment of autoimmune diseases is by suppressing the immunity with the use of steroids or non steroid medicines such as cyclophosphamide, and vaccines where possible. This treatment can give good results on a short-term basis but it does not cure the autoimmune disease and can result in serious side effects later on. Ayurvedic treatment scores positively in this aspects because it brings about immunomodulation so that the body defence system can gradually take over and help cure the disease completely. This may possibly take more time; immuno-suppressants can bring about improvement of symptoms within a few weeks to a few months, while Ayurvedic treatment may be required from a few months to a few years, depending upon the severity and complexity of the disease.
As mentioned earlier, inflammation is the hallmark of all autoimmune diseases. Steroids can treat inflammation very well; however, the long-term side effects of steroids can be as serious - or probably more serious - than the disease itself. Ayurvedic herbal medicines can significantly reduce pain and inflammation in chronic rheumatoid arthritis. Itching and recurrence of psoriasis can be treated very well with Ayurvedic treatment. Herbs can effectively treat inflammation of glands such as that occurs in thyroiditis, or inflammation and destruction of arteries, nerves, mucosa, muscles, connective tissue and skin such as that occurring in SLE, celiac disease, scleroderma, multiple sclerosis, Guillain Barre Syndrome etc.
While steroids and immunosuppressants are common therapy for all autoimmune disorders, the Ayurvedic treatment for each autoimmune disease varies considerably according to the body organs or systems affected. Medical protocol for treatment will also vary considerably according to the severity of symptoms, as well as the treatment response of affected individuals. Most medicines which act on the 'Rakta', 'Mansa', 'Med', and 'Majja' tissues are effective in the treatment of autoimmune disorders. These include herbs like Manjishtha (Rubia cordifolia), Saariva (Hemidesmus indicus), Kutki (Picrorrhiza kurroa), and Patol (Tricosanthe dioica). Immunomodulating herbs are also quite important for treating autoimmune diseases and include Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera), Bala (Sida cordifolia), Guduchi (Tinospora cordifolia) and Amalaki (Emblica officinalis).
Most affected individuals on immuno-suppressants experience a relapse or flare-up after about 5 to 6 months of therapy. Ayurvedic treatment may bring about improvement within 4 to 6 months; however the slow improvement is worth it since the patient start going into a full remission and the disease can be completely controlled with regular therapy of 12 to 24 months. After this, medicines can be gradually tapered and stopped completely. Further treatment can be given as short courses as and when - or if - required. Ayurvedic treatment can thus be utilized successfully to provide a comprehensive treatment for most of the common autoimmune disorders.

Psoriasis and Stress - Not a Good Combination
By Ashish Kumar Agrawal
Psoriasis is a skin problem which is affecting more than 2% of the people in the world. Unfortunately, the modern medical science is yet to come out with the exact cause of psoriasis. In alternative medical treatments like Naturopathy, Homeopathy and Ayurveda also, health experts are still clueless. There is a long list of possible causes for psoriasis and stress is definitely one of them. It is the common experience of the majority of the people suffering from psoriasis that stressful days and events make their psoriasis worse. Whatever be the cause of stress - job, business, academics or personal relationships; every time their psoriasis responds in a negative way.
What is Stress
Stress is the body's response to various unfavorable incidents happening in the life. The response can be physical (shivering, trembling) or mental (depression, fear, anxiety) or both. The term "unfavorable incidents" refers to various changes in personal and professional life. It is natural to resist changes in life. Any individual would feel stressed when exposed to changes that would affect his life as a whole.
A short list of most common life events which can cause stress is:
· Pressure to improve job performance
· Job change/ job interview
· Sudden life threatening experience
· Performance to get good grades in academics
· Peer pressure/ social pressure
· Differences with your loved ones
· Any chronic health problem
How Stress affects Psoriasis
Chronic stress is a definite trigger for psoriasis. It results in hormonal imbalance, low energy levels and nutritional deficiency. It can upset your stomach, affect your food habits and increase the dependency on addictions like alcohol and smoking. All these factors would eventually affect your body immunity and we all know that psoriasis is an auto-immune disorder.
· Stress causes inflammation
Whenever you feel stressed, your body defends itself by sending out chemicals that cause inflammation. Chronic stress means severe inflammation, which can definitely worsen your psoriasis.
· Stress encourages bad food habits
Stress causes an urge for consuming junk foods rich in salt, sugar and saturated fats. Also, a number of times, you overeat to neutralize the impact of stress. Sometimes, it happens that you make a resolution of staying away from junk foods to improve your health and suddenly under a fierce attack of stress, you end up eating a large piece of hot dog and a can of Pepsi. Hence, stress encourages the consumption of ready to eat and highly processed junk foods which are not at all good for you if you are dealing with psoriasis.
· Stress disturbs your lifestyle
Chronic stress can cause sleep disorders (insomnia) and irregular food habits. Irregular food habits like skipping meals, overeating and eating in a hurried way would cause various digestion related issues like acid reflux, hyper acidity, indigestion and constipation. All these issues can increase the level of toxins in your body and affect your body immunity to worsen psoriasis. Similarly improper sleep can also trigger psoriasis.
· Stress can increase the consumption of alcohol and tobacco (smoking)
A lot of times, people used to take shelter under the umbrella of addictions like alcohol and smoking to pacify the high level of stress in their lives. The negative impact of alcohol and smoking on psoriasis is well acknowledged. Smoking is far bigger a culprit than alcohol for majority of the people having psoriasis.
· Stress weakens your body's defense system
When your body is under chronic stress, then the body's defense mechanism would be constantly overworking to keep various unhealthy foreign matters to attack you. If such a state of stress lasts for a longer time, then, eventually, your defense system would get impaired and almost give up. It would make you an easier target for various diseases causing viruses, fungi and bacteria to attack your body.
The vicious circle of Psoriasis and Stress
By now, we have understood that stress has a role to play in psoriasis development and flare up. But, the story is not that simple. Psoriasis itself also causes stress. When you have psoriasis patches on various parts of your body, then public staring and their questions are quite obvious. This can be quite a stressful condition to deal with. Hence, it becomes a vicious circle of stress and psoriasis which can prove very hard to get out of.
How to deal with stress
Luckily, there are healing techniques like yoga, meditation, relaxation and massage therapies which can help in dealing with stress. Not to forget, regular exercise can also play a very big role in stress management.
Accepting your problem helps in relieving stress
Running away from the problem or denying it never helps. It actually increases stress and anxiety. So, there is a need of accepting the problem wholeheartedly and then making the best possible efforts to heal it. Accepting the problem never means quitting. It simply means - I accept my problem, I am not shamed of it and now I would make sincere efforts to heal it. This positive attitude would help in reducing the psoriasis related stress tremendously.

Psoriasis Diet - Holistic Healing Approach
By Ashish Kumar Agrawal
http://ezinearticles.com/?Psoriasis-Diet---Holistic-Healing-Approach&id=9169568
Psoriasis is a long lasting skin condition, one of the most hard to treat skin conditions along with eczema. According to Wikipedia, more than 2% of the total world's population is affected by this problem. But, the medical world is yet to come out with the exact cause of this problem. Accordingly, there is no known cure for psoriasis. In general, it is considered as an autoimmune disorder when your faulty immune system sends wrong signals to your body causing exponential growth in your skin cells, resulting in thick psoriasis patches on various parts of your body like scalp, knees, elbows, back, forehead, behind the ears, underarms, under the breasts and other parts also. These skin patches are reddish white or silvery white in color. Increased skin dryness and inflammation are associated with these psoriasis flakes.
Holistic healing approach
As pointed earlier, as of now, psoriasis can't be cured, but can be managed to live a better life. Modern medical science is still clueless about the psoriasis cause and varieties of steroids based topical treatment medications are prescribed to control the symptoms. Topical treatment medications are those medications which are applied on your skin directly like creams, shampoos and oils. Coal tar based shampoos and salicylic acid based creams are very common. Also, steroidal immunosuppressants like methotrexate are given to the patients to calm down the immune system. The patient is supposed to use these medications for almost the whole lifetime. Hence, the potential side effects of these steroid based medications can't be denied. For example, the use of methotrexate in the long term can have negative effects on the liver. Similarly, alcohol also damages in lives in the long run. So, if a person consumes alcohol regularly and taking methotrexate to control psoriasis, then the combined effect of alcohol and methotrexate can severely damage the liver in the long run.
That's why a holistic healing approach is attracting more and more people to manage their psoriasis.
Holistic healing of psoriasis works on the principle that psoriasis is an internal body metabolism related disorder and skin flakes on your body are just an indication that your body's internal house is not in order. Holistic healing approach works on five basic aspects:
Psoriasis Diet
Diet plays the most important role in psoriasis healing as far as holistic healing is concerned. Impaired liver and poor digestive system coupled with stress can increase the level of body toxins beyond permissible limits. Consuming a diet which helps in body detoxification, boosts the body immunity and most importantly, easy to digest is a very good way to make peace with psoriasis. An ideal psoriasis diet would include eating a lot of fresh fruits and vegetables and whole grains. Most of the green vegetables are alkaline foods and they are highly recommended to drift the body pH towards optimum body pH level (slightly alkaline). Drinking a lot of water and fresh green juices is also beneficial.
Various foods which are not good for psoriasis are: animal fat like dairy and red meat, allergy causing foods like wheat gluten and nightshades, sweetened carbonated drinks, caffeinated drinks, highly processed foods like bakery, pizza and pasta. Minimizing the consumption of alcohol and smoking is also highly recommendable.

By Dr Saurabh Sharma
This article is written by Dr. Saurabh Sharma. he is a competent vaidya with extensive knowledge of Ayurvedic medicines.

Psoriasis is a non-infectious, inflammatory disease of the skin which is characterized by well-defined reddish plaques with large adherent silvery scales. The clinical symptom in psoriasis is an increased proliferation of the skin layers due to excessive division of the cell in the basal layers of the skin. Severe itching may associate with the plaques. Dryness of the skin and silvery scaling are characteristics of this condition.
As we know Ayurveda is based on the theory of Tridosha and Panchamahabhuta. A balanced state of the three elements namely vata, pitta and kapha are essential for normal body functions.
Skin is one of the most important organs of the body which protects the internal organs from environmental influences.
Health of the skin is also affected by factors like nutrition, hygiene, age, immunity, genetic factors and medications. Normal color, luster and softness of skin are maintained by tridoshas and hence the vitiation of tridoshas directly affects the beauty and integrity of skin. Decreased nutrition affects the quality of Rasa-Rakta leading to poor nourishment of further dhatus and skin leading to diseases.
Virudha ahara (incompatible diet) are certain combinations of food articles which hampers digestive power causing aggravation and accumulation of vitiated doshas in the blood which is the definite cause of skin disorders.
Psoriasis Causes: Psoriasis can be considered as the vitiation of Vata and Kapha. Accumulation of low potency poisons (Dooshi vishas), are the basic pathological changes taking place in the system. Irregular food habits, consumption of foodstuffs that cannot be eaten together (Eg: dairy products with fish), excessive intake of yogurt, black gram, seafood, sour and salted items etc can activate the pathogenesis. Alcohol and tobacco consumption will act as a catalyst here. Ayurveda do emphasize on the effect of stress in the pathogenesis of Psoriasis.
Psoriasis Treatment: Ayurveda aims at the detoxification of the body or elimination of toxins from the body fluids which is achieved by Panchakarma treatments.
This includes internal and external medications purely of plant origin. Rough outline of this schedule is as follows.
(I) Intake of medicated ghee as per the Dosha type of the Psoriasis and the prakruti of the person for 3 to 5 days.
(ii) Detoxification by inducing vomiting (Vamana) and purgation (Virechana). This is followed by medicated buttermilk dripping overhead (Dahara) and pasting the entire body with a paste of medicines and mud.
(iii) Bastis (medicated enemas) are being done for 8 days and internal medicines like herbal decoctions; medicated ghee has to be consumed for at least 30 days.
Psoriasis Diet: A strict diet regime has to be followed during the entire treatment period and it is better to continue as vegetarian.
Dietary Restrictions:
· Avoid acidic (sour) foods, citrus fruits (lemon, orange), apple, mango, grapes, tomato, pineapple, pickles, curd and buttermilk.
· No fruit jams, preserved juices or preserved foods.
· Avoid sweets, chocolates and paneer.
· No milk shakes, no fruit salad, no milk after eating fruits for half an hour
· Avoid all fermented food and all bakery food items.
· Avoid common table salt (rock salt in small quantities is okay).
· All non-vegetarian food should be avoided
· No cold drinks, ice creams, fast food (like pizzas), sauces and Ketchup.
· No dried fruits (except raisins and soaked almonds).

3. Meditation: How you think and what you say to yourself is crucial. Meditation can count up to 30% of the healing process. Why, psoriasis is somehow related to your immune system and your immune system is always dependent on your state of mind. The more stress you have in your life, the lower your immune system gets. This is why meditation is key to eliminating psoriasis from your life. You need to make sure that your state of mind is clear and full of happy thoughts.
4. Exercising: This is a vehicle to help cleanse, make energy, and create a "new" you.
5. Nutritional Supplements: Despite our best efforts, eating well may not be enough. Today's produce is not like it used to be. Current day agriculture farming provides a lot of beautiful fruits and vegetables from around the world. However, most of it does not have the nutritional value it once did. So one reason to use Dietary Supplements is to make up for the loss of nutritional value in our modern food of today. The second reason is that you have an imbalance in your system. Anything you can do to correct that imbalance and accelerate the process of removing unwanted toxins, with the intention of building up your body, is a welcome bonus. It could be the key difference between being just OK - to Super Well! 100% whole bovine colostrum superfood is one of the key supplements we recommend to not only turning psoriasis around but feeling fantastic in the process.

How To Ensure That You Do Not Confuse Psoriasis With Eczema
By Terry Robbins
http://ezinearticles.com/?How-To-Ensure-That-You-Do-Not-Confuse-Psoriasis-With-Eczema&id=6930384
Psoriasis is a chronic skin condition with no cure at the present time although there are many treatment methods including home remedies for psoriasis that have been found to work effectively at controlng the disease. While psoriasis is usually very simple to diagnose by a doctor, it can still be confused with other skin conditions with the main one being eczema.
In order to understand the differences between the diseases which will help in determining the proper treatment regimen that may include drugs, ointments, following a proper diet, home remedies for psoriasis, etc, it is important to understand these two skin conditions.
What is Eczema?
Eczema which is sometimes called dermatisis which is the catchall term for many skin conditions arising from the inflammation of the skin including eczema. Eczema is usually characterized by bsters on the skin in severe cases of the condition. There will also be oozing, redness, crusts/scabs, fluid in the tissue, and itching or burning. The areas most affected are those where creasing of the skin occurs such as the back of the knee or the top of the elbow.
There are also many different types of eczema just ke with psoriasis with one of the most common types being known as atopic dermatisis which results from an allergic reaction and there is usually a family history of hay fever or asthma.
What is Psoriasis?
Psoriasis results from rapid skin turnover in a sufferer. In normal skin, skin turnover (when new skin pushes away the top layer of skin leading to dead skin that is sloughed away) usually occurs every 30 to 35 days and is usually unnoticeable. With psoriasis, this turnover takes place much quicker in bout four to five days leading to dead skin ping up on top of skin which is very noticeable.
Psoriasis is usually evidenced by thick red eruptions that are usually covered with white, silvery white or gray oval shaped scales over small or large areas of the body. These areas can itch or burn. It affects up to 2% of the population and usually shows up between the ages of 15 and 30. This condition is not contagious.
Commonly affected areas include the lower back, knees, knuckles, elbows and the scalp. Other areas of the body that can be affected by psoriasis include the fingernails and toenails when pitting, brown discoloration, cracking and fting of the nail will be evidenced. While these are common areas affected, psoriasis can affect any body part including genitals, joints, etc. While there is no psoriasis cure, many treatments including home remedies for psoriasis can work to keep the condition at bay.
Differences between Psoriasis and Eczema
Other skin conditions that may be mistaken for psoriasis include fungal infections (ringworm) as well as candidiasis (yeast infection) that may be found around the genitalia as well as underneath the breasts.
As mentioned previously, a doctor will be able to easily determine what skin condition you are suffering from in order for the proper treatment to commence, including drugs, home remedies for psoriasis, etc.
Psoriasis Diagnosis
This is usually done by the doctor first analyzing your skin, your scalp as well as your nails for any signs of psoriasis. A biopsy, blood tests as well as x-rays can also be used to diagnose psoriasis and then start a treatment regimen that may include home remedies for psoriasis.

Differences between Psoriasis and Eczema
- Psoriasis usually features dry thick scales over the affected area whereas eczema is often oozing and wet.
- Eczema usually includes cracks in the skin.
- Eczema in most cases especially atopic dermatisis mentioned above usually begins before the age of two while most cases of psoriasis first appear in adulthood.
- Although both conditions can feature itchy lesions, eczema is usually very itchy while the itching associated with psoriasis is usually mild to none at all although some psoriasis lesions can be very itchy.
- Eczema does not feature the silvery white scales on top of lesions as evidenced with most cases of psoriasis.
- Eczema sufferers do not usually show any changes in their fingernails or toenails as found with many cases of psoriasis.
- With plaque psoriasis which is the most common type of psoriasis, there will be a clear border between affected skin and healthy skin. This border between healthy and unhealthy skin is not usually present when eczema first makes its presence known.
- History of asthma or hay fever is usually common with certain types of eczema such as atopic dermatisis while this type of family history is not present with psoriasis.

You just need to find what will work for you.

Psoriasis In Children and Helping Them Cope With This Chronic Disease
By Terry Robbins
When a child suffers for any reason including being plagued with a disease such as psoriasis, parents usually suffer right along with the child and have a desire to make things better for the child and may feel powerless at times when dealing with psoriasis in children. In addition to helping the child in trying to find the best psoriasis cures that may include home remedies for psoriasis, a psoriasis diet, etc, parents also have to provide emotional support since dealing with the disease can be very difficult for children.
While the majority of those with psoriasis usually begin having psoriasis symptoms when they are much older, psoriasis can affect anyone of any age. Approximately 15% of all psoriasis cases begin before the age of ten. Psoriasis in children is that much more challenging for parents as well as doctors.
When a parent is dealing with a child who suffers from psoriasis, they usually have to spend more time in helping to find the treatment that will work for the child as well as in helping the child cope emotionally with this condition. While there isn't a cure for psoriasis, there are various treatments that can help to control the flare-ups including various drugs, uv light therapy, home remedies for psoriasis, etc.
Dealing with psoriasis in children can be difficult for doctors as well in the sense that many common psoriasis treatments may present various problems and health risks when used on children. This is why it greatly helps when alternative treatments such as home remedies for psoriasis are used to help children deal with psoriasis symptoms.
It is especially difficult for parents to watch their child suffer with this chronic skin disease. This is especially so since children have even less self control than adults and when they itch, they will just want to scratch which only worsens the psoriasis lesions which may burn and itch. Various home remedies for psoriasis such as using wraps can be great to help children keep from scratching away at these psoriasis lesions.
Psoriasis in children is usually in the form of plaque psoriasis which features oval shaped silvery/gray scales on the elbows, knees and the lower back. Scalp psoriasis is another type of psoriasis that can affect children that can be mistaken for severe dandruff which can be even more embarrassing for children. Guttate psoriasis which usually shows up in children after a bout with a certain bacterial disease such as strep throat is also a common type of psoriasis in children. But by far the most common type of psoriasis in children and adults is plaque psoriasis.
While the origins of psoriasis remain unknown, it is believed to have a genetic component but this is tricky in that while both of the parents or one of parents of a psoriasis sufferer can have the disease, neither of them can have the disease and still produce a child with psoriasis. Many other factors can also lead to the development of psoriasis such as an illness, skin injury, puberty, stress, etc. This disease is still a great mystery to doctors but this does not mean that parents and children should lose hope in finding a solution for this condition.
Since there isn't one treatment that can work for all psoriasis sufferers, it is important to be proactive and try various therapies until you find the one that works which may include changing the diet, home remedies for psoriasis, drug therapies, various alternative medicine therapies, etc. While the child may get despondent after trying various therapies without success, it is important for the parent to help the child maintain a positive attitude that a solution will be found no matter how long it will take.
One of the best home remedies for psoriasis that a parent can do when dealing with psoriasis in children is to ensure that the child keeps his or her skin moisturized. Ensuring that the child lotions up frequently is one of the easiest ways to combat this disease. The more moisturized the skin is, the less itchy it will be and the less prone to flare-ups the skin will be.
When dealing with psoriasis in children, it is important to educate the child on the disease and what they need to do to prevent psoriasis flare-ups or how to treat lesions for them to heal quickly. The child needs to be taught that though they may want to scratch or rub at the lesions, this will only make the condition worse. The more educated the child is, the closer he or she will be to properly managing this chronic skin disease.
In addition to prescription medications, there are many other home remedies for children that may be even safer than using prescription medications which involve using various oils such as olive oil, mineral oil, coconut oil, etc, in various recipes to treat skin lesions.

The Five Most Common Types of Psoriasis
By Joseph Merkle
There are five commonly contracted forms of psoriasis. These are plaque psoriasis, guttate psoriasis, pustular psoriasis, inverse psoriasis, and erythrodermic psoriasis. Mainly, most people suffering from psoriasis contract a singular type, though one type can alter into another type when stimulated by an outside influence, such as a stressful situation or an unrelated health concern. Childhood diseases such as measles, chicken pox, and mumps can be a trigger for psoriasis. Often diseases that overburden the immune system can set off a case of psoriasis.
Plaque psoriasis (psoriasis vulgaris) is largely, the most frequently found psoriasis. Approximately 80 percent of psoriasis sufferers have plaque psoriasis. Signs that confirm a strong indication one is afflicted by this type of psoriasis are raised, red patches that will frequently display a white, shiny scaling. These distinct patches are referred to as plaques. The initial indicator of plaque psoriasis is the onset of small, red bumps developing erratically on the body. These plaques often have two separate pathologies. Often they continue to exist as individual, isolated areas. They are known to commonly merge together to create a bigger plaque. As a rule of thumb, the most common frequented areas of this type of psoriasis are the elbows, knees, and the lower back. Keep in mind plaque psoriasis is not limited to these areas. It can appear anywhere on the body, particularly the scalp. This is commonly referred as scalp psoriasis. One rare aspect of plaque psoriasis is that it rarely afflicts the face. Plaques can last for long periods of time. Eruptions are regularly attributed to an array of concerns, including stress.
Guttate psoriasis is the second most common type of psoriasis. Widespread tiny, red marks on the skin are clear indications of guttate psoriasis. Tear shaped spots may be seen during an affliction of this type. This skin condition is generally an acute condition often linked to a bacterial or viral infection. It usually appears on the trunk of the body and the limbs. This type of psoriasis generally is found in young adults and children. Many cases of guttate psoriasis are mild and will vanish without medication. More severe cases could indicate treatment and an appointment with your physician.
Pustular psoriasis is a rare form of psoriasis, pustular psoriasis affects fewer than five percent of those unfortunate enough to contract psoriasis. Symptoms are raised pustules that are filled with pus. Methodological analysis indicates implies the development of pustules in hours of the skin becoming red and itchy. The typical skin eruption occurs in waves. This scenario is a progression of scaling and mending in just a few short days. Reappearance is the subsequent phase. Pustular psoriasis is generally prevalent anywhere on the body. Often it can be a limited occurrence found on the palms of the hands and the soles of the feet. This is known as palmar-plantar pustulosis. Pustular psoriasis is a serious condition that often can lead to some time in the hospital. This condition occur most often in adults. Confirmed triggers are the application of cortisone, streptococcal bacteria, and hormonal changes such as pregnancy. Patients that elect to pursue a natural healing path may experience an aggravation when eliminating medications that contain steroids.
Erythrodermic psoriasis quite frequently occurs in tandem with pustular psoriasis, while this is not always the situation. Symptoms are often more severe than other forms of psoriasis and display the typical red, inflamed, and scaly eruption. The intensity comes because this rash can encompass a sizable portion of the body. In a number of cases the entire body is engulfed. This type of psoriasis should be approached seriously, as it can be deadly in some cases. This particular psoriasis causes the skin to fail in its capacity to regulate temperature. Therefore, it becomes necessary to thoroughly keep an eye on the situation. Hospitalization should not be ruled out in severe cases. This is the most painful psoriasis that can produce life threatening situations owed to fever, infection, and dehydration. Erythrodermic psoriasis is usually cared with medicine of a topical and/or systemic kind.
Inverse psoriasis is often mistaken for a yeast infection (candida). This is because it involves the same typical vicinity of the body where there are folds in the skin. Some of the common areas affected are below the breasts, armpits, and the genital areas. Inverse psoriasis, also called flexural psoriasis, generally afflicts those who are overweight with additional skin folds that happen to become irritated from continual friction and sweating. Distinct from other varieties of psoriasis, the eruptions will be glossy and shiny with none the typical scaling displayed by other types of psoriasis. These patches are notably inflamed and tender.

Psoriasis Free in Two Months
By Diana Schreiber Murdoch
Where does it come from?
My dear dad has psoriasis. He wears long sleeve shirts in the summer because the breakouts look... nasty. He had to get a brush cut and give up his wavy, black haired, fierce Beethoven look, just so he could apply psoriasis medicated cream to the top of his itchy head. As I thought about it, I wondered if there was a natural way to deal with this itchy skin problem. I began to do a little research.
Dad's case is pretty mild compared to many of the pictures I reviewed. And still I know that he is always uncomfortable, hoping no one notices that he is always reaching to itch his head or arms.
I found information showing psoriasis lesions could be cleared up in as little as two months! The before and after pictures were astounding. Here is what I learned.
Psoriasis comes from inside the body. It is not caught from others. So we should ask, what are we putting into our bodies that is causing it. Indeed, psoriasis comes from eating the wrong foods. These foods cause toxins in the blood stream, and when the intestinal tract can no longer eliminate the amount of toxins in the blood, the skin is called upon to help as well. Toxins eliminated through the skin are the psoriasis lesions.
Five things to stay away from
#1. No Nightshades
Tomatoes and tomato products, sauces, ketchup
Peppers
Eggplant
Paprika
White Potatoes
Tobacco
#2. No Red Meat, and processed meats,
You may eat fish, (not shellfish) chicken and turkey, wild game and lamb.
#3. No Sweets and carbohydrates
No white sugar, white flour, fruit juices and citrus fruits.
You may have other fruits in moderation, 1 or two a day.
#4. No Alcohol, including beer
#5. No fried foods
What you may eat
80% should be green, leafy vegetables, lettuce, celery, spinach, kale, whatever is green and leafy.
20% can be chicken, turkey, fish, wild game and lamb.
Make tea from Slippery Elm Bark and also American Yellow Saffron that heal the gut.
Drink water and teas, 6 glasses a day.
Other help
Chiropractic adjustments to the 6th and 7th vertebrae activates the immune system, and helps the body to heal itself, including the intestines and the skin.
More about Dad
Do I think he can give up his beloved tomato sauces, peppers and beer? The jury is still out on that one. So I put it into a blunt, straight forward question that will hopefully help motivate him, and maybe even you, to make the right decision.
Question
How badly do you want to be free from the horrible itching of psoriasis? The ugly skin eruptions? The discomfort, the embarrassment?
Now you know how to get rid of it. The rest is up to you.

Cure for Psoriasis
By Paul H Young
What follows is the true story of how I cured my psoriasis by using a simple, well-known nutritional supplement.
I was diagnosed with psoriasis about five years ago. It was plaque psoriasis, and all references in this article to psoriasis apply only to plaque psoriasis. In my case, it manifested itself in thick, scaly, inflamed patches of skin. It was all over both hands, arms and elbows. It was on my legs, in misshapen fingernails and toenails and on my face and genitals. I have seen photographs of people with severe psoriasis that covers most of their body. That was not me. Mine was a serious, but moderate case of psoriasis. But it was real. And it was a nightmarish experience - not only the disease itself, but the whole idea of being the victim of something whose origins are unknown and from which there is no escape.
During the five years or more that I had active psoriasis, I tried some of the topical treatments - including steroids and coal tar. But steroids over long term have undesirable metabolic effects, and coal tar stinks you, your clothing and everything around you. I stopped using both. I tried phototherapy, but after months of going twice a week and standing in a UVB light booth, there was no change. I decided not to try any of the biologics or systemics, as I do not like to put inside me drugs that can cause additional problems. I just decided to manage my psoriasis the best way I could.
But I continued to search the internet looking for other answers. I found nothing. Then I came across a nutritional supplement called N- Glucosamine; its full name is N-acetyl glucosamine, GlcNac, shortened to NAG. This is not regular glucosamine, but a relative. It is a sugar molecule, a derivative of glucose, and is useful in some autoimmune conditions. Multiple sclerosis, for instance, is an autoimmune disease, and in at least one scientific study, N-Glucosamine was shown to suppress multiple sclerosis attacks.
Since psoriasis is believed to be an autoimmune disease, I decided to try and find out what else N-Glucosamine might be able to do, and on one of my searches, I discovered that some unknown company had filed for a patent on the use of N-Glucosamine to treat psoriasis. Lightbulb. Whoever got to the point of filing a patent for this must have observed results that were positive, I reasoned. They must have known that N-Glucosamine could be a treatment for psoriasis, so I decided to try it. It was entirely an act of faith on my part, as I had no knowledge of what would happen. I was the lab rat.
There are numerous brands of N-Glucosamine on the market. I chose one made by Jarrow, a respected nutritional supplements company with its roots in science. Nothing happened for about two months, but somewhere in the third month, I started to see changes: Patches of psoriasis on my hands and elbows, began to disappear. Over the next month or six weeks, more and more lesions disappeared, until by somewhere around four months from the time I started, they literally all were gone. My fingernails that had been distorted, grew in normally, and the skin lesions on both sides of my hands, on my arms and elbows and on my legs all were gone.
It was like a miracle.
Truly, it was something that had to be seen to be believed. I am not prescribing N-Glucosamine or offering advice about it or endorsing it. I am simply telling you what happened to me.
